Prof. Dr. Paul Devroey obtained his MD from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium in 1971, and his PhD, on oocyte donation, in gynecology, obstetrics and infertility from Brussels Free University in 1989. Professor Devroey is chairman of the Belgian National Committee for Bioethics, past chairman of ESHRE and past president of the Belgian Society of Reproductive Medicine. He is director of Medical Education of the International federation of Fertility Societies.

Professor Devroey’s main research interests include preimplantation genetics aneuploidy screening, ovarian stimulation techniques, treatment of male factor infertility, and the improvement of the infertility diagnosis and management, as well as the patients’ experience of treatments.

He has published over 523 articles and three books, and received three national and four international research awards. He has pioneered the use of intracytoplasmic sperm injection. He is a member of the editorial boards of Fertility and Sterility and Acta Obstetrica et Gynocologica Scandinavica. He is fellow ad eundem of the Royal Collega (UK) and Doctor Honoris Causa of the Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, Greece.
