Dr. Marcia Schmidt Specialist OB/GYN
Dr. Marcia Schmidt is an American educated and trained physician working as a Specialist, Obstetrics and Gynecology. Since 2008 she has been board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has completed three post-residency fellowships in Pelvic Surgery, Gynecologic Oncology and Breast Health. Dr. Schmidt has extensive surgical training including laparoscopic and robotic training. Her focus is on Women’s Health, particularly complicated gynecologic surgery, diagnosis and treatment of pre-malignant and malignant conditions of the breast and gynecologic tract. Prior to her arrival in Dubai, Dr. Schmidt worked as a locum tenens Gynecologic Oncologist in the USA while performing a Breast Health Apprenticeship in Istanbul, Turkey. Dr. Schmidt is well respected by her peers and is dedicated to the care and wellbeing of her patients.
Membership: Dr. Schmidt is a Fellow in the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is also a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the European Society of Gynecologic Oncology.
Education: Dr. Schmidt obtained her medical degree in 2002 from Upstate Medical University, State University of New York in Syracuse New York. She completed her residency training in 2006 at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, New York. Subsequently she completed a Pelvic Surgery Fellowship in 2007 at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Next she completed a three year Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship at the University of South Florida/Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida in 2010. In 2011, she completed training in Breast Surgery at Brown University/Women and Infants’ Hospital in Providence Rhode Island.
