Dubai is the most populous of the seven emirates of United Arab Emirates. In 2013, Dubai won the bid to host Expo 2020, becoming the first Middle Eastern country to host this global event. As of 2010, Dubai was the 8th most visited city in the world. It is distinct from other members of the UAE in that a large part of the emirate's revenues is from tourism. Dubai has been called the "shopping capital of the Middle East" with more than 70 shopping malls, including the world's largest shopping mall, Dubai Mall.
Abu Dhabi is the capital and second largest city of the UAE in terms of population and largest in terms of size. Although there are fewer touristic destinations in Abu Dhabi than in Dubai, the emirate has much to offer to its visitors. Abu Dhabi's late president, His Highness Sheikh Zayed, also known as the Father of the UAE, was committed to the establishment of greenery in the capital which can be evidenced by the wide streets lined with trees.

Mediterranean food is very popular and is available everywhere in the city. Fast-food, South Asian and Chinese cuisines are also very popular and are widely available. Alcohol is available in bars and restaurants located on hotel premises.
Dress and Etiquette
Western-style clothing is dominant because of the large expatriate population. When visiting public places, such as the mall, it is recommended that women wear clothing that cover their shoulders and knees in respect of local culture.
