Studies have shown a strong positive association between regular sugar-sweetened beverages (like soda, iced tea, etc) and fat around your belly area, which the latter is associated with predisposition to type 2 diabetes. On the other hand, diet soda consumption was not associated with change in abdominal fat tissues…Keep in mind, diet sodas should not be encouraged for daily consumption.
