Egg Collection (Oocyte Retrieval)

How is the egg collection procedure performed?

Egg collection is done under light sedation or anesthesia and takes about 10–15 minutes. Using ultrasound guidance, a thin needle is passed through the vaginal wall into the ovaries. The fluid from each follicle is gently aspirated and checked for eggs in the IVF laboratory.

Is egg collection painful?

No, because you are sedated. Afterward, you may have mild cramps or spotting, which usually resolves within a day or two.

Can unmarried women undergo egg collection in the UAE?

Yes. Fakih IVF is the only centre in the UAE that offers egg collection for unmarried women through a minimally invasive 5–10 minute vaginal approach that maintains virginity. This avoids traditional laparoscopic surgery, which is more invasive and carries higher risks.
