Two genetic tests introduced for the first time in GCC by Fakih IVF
Dubai, UAE (March 3, 2014): International medical experts presented the latest advances in infertility treatments at the 3rd annual UAE Reproductive Symposium, which was held recently at Park Hyatt in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In keeping with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the UAE Reproductive Symposium is an annual event hosted by Fakih IVF to improve the standard of healthcare in the UAE. This year’s event was accredited by the Ministry of Health for a total of 12 CME credits because of its high caliber of faculty and content that was presented.
At the event, Fakih IVF announced the introduction of two new genetic tests being offered in the GCC for the first time: The first screens over 700 genetic diseases from a single blood sample to check if the person is a carrier of any of those diseases which he/she may pass on to their children. The second is called Personalized Medicine and can predict the chances of an individual in contracting any of 350 medical conditions in the future, such as cancers, cardiac diseases and diabetes, to name a few. Chaired by Dr. Michael Fakih, a pioneer in the field of infertility treatment, this year’s symposium brought together over 250 physicians and guests to discuss advancements in the field of reproductive medicine and shared their expertise. “When Fakih IVF opened the first private IVF center in Dubai in 2011, we created the UAE Reproductive Symposium as part of our commitment to achieving and contributing to medical excellence. The event included 18 presentations led by experts from USA, UK, Egypt, Denmark, Germany, Lebanon and India specializing in Genetics, Fertility, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Embryology and Male Reproductive Urology. Topics included were: preserving fertility in cancer patients, male infertility, embryo freezing, obesity and infertility, advancements in IVF treatment and genetic testing.
