Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is seen in women of reproductive ages between 15 to 45 years old.

Its incidence varies; between 5 and 12%. The etiology of PCOS multifactorial such as genetic, environmental, and endocrine factors.

It involves different systems. Some patients present with, menstrual irregularities, oligomenorrhea, amenorrhea or infertility, while others present with hyperandrogenic state such as alopecia, hirsutism, or acne.

PCOS is the leading endocrine cause of infertility. It is the most frequent cause of anovulatory infertility.

Infertility is 15-fold higher in women with PCOS compared to non-PCOS women.

 

Treatment:
1-Healthy lifestyle: Weight reduction healthy diet, reduction of smoking and recreational drugs can improve pregnancy rates and reproductive outcomes

2- Medications: Clomid & femara & injections

3- ART procedures: IUI, IVF
